Hello all!

I see you've found your way to the new (hopeful) home of The 42nd!

A definitive place for members and supporters of The 42nd Spec Ops Bn to go has been lacking for some years now; websites have come and gone like the... well... something that comes and goes often.

But! I've taken it upon myself to go forth and create! Lo and behold, this is what came out.

Yes, the domain name is meh, and …

I know there are some issues here and there, and I'm working on it, but I also wanted you guys to point out any problems you've run into, as I haven't had time to get around to playing with everything there is.

Also, comments/suggestions on the skin/color scheme/whether the widgets (Navigation/Announcements/Latest topics/etc...) are necessary are more than welcome.

It seems to force polls on you in the enlistment forum.

Furthermore, on the left of every post there's the name of the poster. Clicking that opens a drop-down. The color scheme of the drop-down seems messed up, as there are white links on a white background.

Same goes for the "Toggle smilies panel" and "BBCode Guide" below the text box majigger for a new post.

I had noticed the 'Toggle Smilies' and 'BBcode' buttons being dumb, but I hadn't noticed the drop down menu. They're probably all the same option on colors management. I'll poke around until I find which one it is.

Drop down menu is fixed. I wanted to change the background from white, but I couldn't find which one that was, so I just changed the link color.

EDIT: Oh yeah, that fixed the BB Code and Toggle Smilies in the Add Reply page.

Also, I changed that nasty poo brown bar under topics with 'View previous topic...View next topic' on it to a nicer dark blue.

Now, I'd like to change the text for the buttons (Preview/Send/etc...) from black, but I can't find that, either.

Meh, I don't think building a ranking system into the forum is of severe and immediate importance. But it's certainly of +5 nifty points! We should probably make a checklist of:
    Immediate needs.
    Near-term needs.
    Far-term needs.
Spiffy things that aren't necessary but make us smile.

Well, there are a ton of option as to how the ticker displays info. I can make it scroll across and stop, change the height of the ticker, how fast it scrolls, how long it stays put, which direction is scrolls.

Maybe a scroll from top->down and then stays for, say, 10 seconds?

EDIT: Uh, I was replying to the other topic, I thought. But yeah. Is it still annoying?

The colors in the poll thingy are messed up. The background color of the poll entry box needs to be changed, or the color of the text in that entry area needs changed. Either way, it's nigh-unusable.

Alright, I've created extra pages for the Core Values and Teamspeak info, and updated the Navigation widget on the left of the page to be an ordered list. Anything else you guys think should have its own page/be in the InfoCenter part of the Navigation widget over there?

Nothing I can think of. Seeing the Core Values over there was all kinds of win. \=D/

Yeah, that was WAY easier than I thought it would be. The HTML pages portion of the admin panel allows you the option to keep the theme header and footer, and just inserts whatever you put in the form as the body of the html for that page. I just copy/pasted/tweaked the source html from paredes.cc's core values page and there ya have it. Very Happy

I want to add more stuff/make that nav widget more balanced, but that's a minor issue.
